I don't get to write an awful lot these days. Well, that's a lie because I write all the time - just not about stuff that most of my readers would have an interest in. I suppose that I could try it one day, writing some uni stuff here, just to see what the reaction would be. For example I'm just about to set out into the wonderful world of 'offside goals' in property law. To some that sounds interesting but only because it has footballing connotations. I can confirm it is interesting but I can also confirm that it has nothing to do with football. To put it another way: it's a rule about offiside goals that women that study law understand - the antithesis of the rule in the beautiful game you might say.
So with that in mind I feel that I should write about something that will appease the masses. The problem with that is that my life basically consists of university and taking time out to play/watch football - I've already covered those two topics in a single paragraph. My work here is done!
The truth is that I've sat down this evening with a mountain of work to get through but without much motivation behind me to do it. As previously stated, I find my uni work very interesting but when it's stacked high and wide and there is little indication about where I should start, my interest lessens somewhat. In fact I'm writing this post primarily to bridge the gap between Eastenders and I'm a Celebrity which, although a sad indictment of my life, serves to show that there's always time for TV no matter how many journal articles you've been set for reading.
On top of the storm of reading that I've got to do for seminars, I've also got the specter of my honours essays looming large over my head. We've been told that over the Christmas holiday (or Christmas break as I've intentionally taken to calling it) that we should take Christmas Day off to 'give us a rest'. Now I learn alongside a bright bunch of people that don't need to be nudged when something has been implied. My interpretation of this piece of advice from the graduates that were talking to us is this: don't even think for a second that you're on holiday, eat a few bits of turkey when its customary to do so and then, for the rest of your 'break', write essays like a madman. I read between the lines and got stuck there.
Now that the next couple of months have effectively been planned for me I have to wonder when I'll find time to be lazy and play the new Football Manager Handheld. These are real issues for me. I'm going to buy said game when it comes out and just have to be super controlled about how much I play it. I waited until the Christmas holiday last year because we had exams and then played it solidly for about a month - and beyond. This year there are no exams but I have then darn essays to do. No, I'm still getting it and I'm going to win the Champions League with Livingston within a week!
Sorry, that was me talking to myself briefly there. Back to the post. The actual idea that I had for a post recently would probably have made for better reading. As some of you will know, I've been reading a lot of Sabotage Times recently and I saw a post about one Saboteur's list of girls that he...you know?...would. This got me thinking (like I needed to read something to 'get me thinking' about that topic!) that I would compile my own list. Firstly to fill some space in a blog post and secondly to find out what others though about it.
Here it goes: Ellie Goulding (obviously), Taylor Swift (potentially a pain in the arse but attractive nevertheless), Kimberly Nixon (Josie from Fresh Meat who did a nude scene with Rupert Grint which I may/may not have seen), Mille Clode (Sky Sports News never looked so good - except when Jim White is doing Deadline Day) and, finally, my wildcard...Susanna Reid (from BBC Breakfast).
I can sense that most of the guys (and possibly some of the girls) were nodding along with that list until we got to the end but I must admit that Susanna is one of the only reasons I get up in the morning. Get yourself out of bed in the morning before 9.15 and you'll know what I mean - maybe you already do!
So with that I will conclude this long and fragmented post that has literally just been me spraffing for about half an hour waiting for I'm a Celebrity to come on. Even if it was slightly on the perverse side I've still enjoyed getting my blog up again. Typing away safe in the knowledge that I don't have to footnote anything or worry that I'm using the same words that someone else has, thus committing the much feared crime of plagiarism, is nice. I'm fairly certain that nobody has written those words in that order before but I guess that's why you've made it to the end of this post tonight and why some of you will come back for more in the future.
Happy studying everyone and thanks for reading!
